Dr. Benton Chun
Dr. Benton Chun is a board-certified OB-GYN with over 25 years of experience in infertility and in vitro fertilization. He is consistently listed as one of the "Top Doctors" in Hawaii by his peers and is recognized as one of the "Best Doctors" nationally. In 2001, he started IVF HAWAII, an innovative and comprehensive infertility program. He serves as both the Medical Director and Laboratory Director of the Center’s nationally accredited (College of American Pathologists) embryology and andrology laboratory.
He received his Masters in Biomedical Science with an emphasis on Clinical Embryology and Andrology from the Eastern Virginia Medical School. It was here in 1981, (at the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine) that the first IVF baby was conceived in the United States.
Dr. Chun is nationally certified by the Accreditation Council for Gynecologic Endoscopy in advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery. He is recognized for his expertise in minimally invasive surgery and has conducted several conferences and seminars for his peers on advanced surgical techniques. He is an Associate Clinical Professor at the John A. Burns School of Medicine and is the Clinical Director of the Minimally Invasive Surgical Laboratory for resident doctors in training.
Dr. Chun has a special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis associated infertility. Endometriosis is often an overlooked disease that can be a significant factor in the cause of infertility. Through his treatment, especially his laparoscopic surgical skills, Dr. Chun has helped many of his patient become successfully pregnant.
To continue providing the most advanced medical and surgical therapies for his patients, Dr. Chun is an active member of professional medical societies including the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society, the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the Society for Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the Society of Reproductive Surgeons, and the American Association of Bioanalysts.

Our laboratory
IVF HAWAII'S embryology and andrology laboratory is nationally accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Dr. Chun is the Laboratory Director and has developed a unique and effective treatment plan that utilizes advanced and innovative laboratory techniques, optimizing the pregnancy rates in those experiencing infertility.
